The annual quantitative perishable crop loss globally is 40%-50%. The projected post-harvest losses in Africa are 80% due to the lack of storage facilities for poor farmers. Post-harvest losses (PHLs) are as high as 45% in Liberia.  80% of Liberians are food insecure, yet there are high food losses. PHLs are an essential source of food insecurity in Africa. It increases hunger and limits economic opportunity for farmers. In sub-Saharan Africa, about 234 million people have no sufficient food available. In 2017, 3.9 million deaths worldwide were attributed to not eating enough fruit and vegetables.  PHLs reduce at least 15% of 450 million farmer's income 

These Losses account for the 8% global carbon emissions.

CoolBox Technology

Our startup offers a transformative solution for small-scale farmers in Africa by providing solar-powered cold storage technology. Our innovative refrigeration system extends the shelf life of perishable goods, ensuring optimal temperature and humidity levels to preserve their quality and freshness. Through this solution, we empower farmers to reduce post-harvest losses and increase market opportunities while contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

 I do not have any cold storage facilities to store my vegetables. After selling them, I have to keep them in our room. Before the next morning, some are rotten and spoiled. Therefore, every day I lost 2% of my income and 6% a week.

Each of our clean energy coolbox solutions can help reduce 20.5 tones of greenhouse gas emissions every month. Deploring 5 solar power coolboxes in rural communities, we are saving more than 500 tones of CO2 emissions every year.   We are also looking forward to expanding our work in different regions and communities to increase our community impact and achiving the net-zero carbon emissions.
